Decarbonizing Danube Delta

3D Initiative proposes a vision of the Danube Delta transformations, related to all economic and societal components, towards a well-preserved biodiverse region with net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 (with significantly reduced carbon footprint by 2030), in a social innovative context, enriching local economy and capitalising the local opportunities for job creation and local population benefits.

This systematic multidisciplinary initiative proposes a complete innovation management process (supported by innovation agencies and companies in the group) in order to bring the region to the decarbonisation goal.

In this scope, there will be projects on all levels, from Research, to Innovations, Scaling Up actions, towards Business and Industry, targeting as an important milestone Social Innovation with Job Creation.

We Have the Power to Impact Our Future, and We’re Doing Something About It

Decarbonisation of Danube Delta Multidisciplinary Initiative originated in the collaborative work of several partners from various categories: Research and Technology Organisations, academia, SME, professional NGOs, administration, all following the mission of Decarbonisation of Danube Delta from the perspective of a region with several places (inland waters, cities, villages, isolated communities).

The working core group proposes a pilot bottom-up approach with local based solutions towards the decarbonisation of the selected area, in order to support the European Green Deal.

Systematic multidisciplinary initiative

This systematic multidisciplinary initiative proposes a complete innovation management process (supported by innovation agencies and companies in the group) in order to bring the region to the decarbonisation goal. The group is working on developing an integrated decarbonisation strategy and an action plan that can be implemented trough international funding (such as Horizon Europe). In this scope, there will be projects on all levels, from Research, to Innovations, Scaling Up actions, towards Business and Industry, targeting as an important milestone Social Innovation with Job Creation. The regional Decarbonisation goal for Danube Delta is one of the most pioneering targets that can be afterwards replicated in support of the European Green Deal.

3D Initiative Strategic Pillars

The working group activities are coordonated in the direction of the mission by a Steering Committee, formed by: Danube Delta National Institute for Research and Development (RO), Manchester Metropolitan University (UK), Politechnica University Bucharest (RO), Steinbeis Europa Zentrum (DE) Asociaţia Grup Local pentru Pescărie Durabilă în Delta Dunării – FLAG Delta Dunării (RO).
